about
Clay has a way of always bringing me back. There is always a new technique to learn, a new form to try, or simply more to explore.
I've been making ceramics for about two and a half years, working out of a home studio in Sammamish, Washington. My background is in technology, and pottery is slow and physical in a way that nothing else in my life is, made entirely by hand, one piece at a time.
I'm drawn to sleek, curved forms and rich, layered glaze effects, and I work across a range of clay bodies, mostly black stoneware and white porcelain, with something newer in nearly every kiln load. Every piece feels at least a little experimental. Each time I open the kiln, I'm already thinking about what I want to try next.
Some of the best things to come out of this haven't come from the kiln at all, but from the people. Teachers, fellow students, and other makers whose work pushes me to try new things have shaped this as much as anything else. Most of what I make has gone to family and friends, and I've only recently started selling, mainly at local markets.
